About the Role
We are looking for a reliable, high-energy Front of House Lead / Head Barista to take full operational ownership of our front counter, coffee service, and customer floor.
Working in direct coordination with cafe Manager / owner and , you will be the driving force at the front of house. Your main focus will be delivering consistently excellent specialty coffee, managing queue flow during peak morning and lunchtime rushes, and keeping the front operation organised, fast, and spotless.
Key Responsibilities
- Coffee & Beverage Quality: Dial in grinders daily, maintain exact extraction recipes, produce consistent milk texture/latte art, and drive speed of service across all drinks.
- Prepare and serve a variety of coffee and tea beverages according to established recipes and customer preferences.
- Counter & Queue Management: Operate the POS till system, welcome customers, manage order queues during busy periods, and keep wait times low.
- Pass & Kitchen Coordination: Coordinate smoothly with the kitchen team to ensure food and beverage orders are matched, checked for accuracy, and handed out promptly.
- Standards & Checklists: Maintain high cleanliness standards across all customer areas, counter stations, and coffee equipment (including daily machine backflushing and steam wand care).
- Opening & Closing Routines: Lead daily opening and closing procedures, stocking and stock rotation responsibilities, and complete accurate end-of-day till reconciliations.
- Team Guidance: Set a strong pace on the floor, guide junior team members on service standards, and ensure standard checklists are followed every shift.
- Prepare or help in food prep/order making in the kitchen following the process when required.
- Ensure adherence to food safety standards during food preparation and beverage service.
Requirements
- 2+ years of hands-on barista experience in a busy cafe environment (dial-in, espresso extraction, and milk steaming proficiency are essential).
- 1+ years in a senior barista, shift runner, or front-of-house supervisory role.
- Proven ability to stay calm, organized, and communicative under intense rush periods.
- Strong attention to cleanliness, detail, and food safety standards.
- A background in food preparation is beneficial but not required.
- A willingness to learn and adapt to new techniques in beverage preparation is important for success in this role.
- Full availability to work 4 to 5 scheduled days per week, including peak weekend trade.

Pay: £13.00-£13.71 per hour
