Permanent seasonal contract – based on 37.5 hours per week during the core season only (normally February to November) each year.

Our permanent seasonal contracts give you flexibility to follow other interests and pursuits over the winter months secure in the knowledge that you have a job to come back to.

At the Field Studies Council, our mission is to create outstanding opportunities that inspire everyone to engage with and care for the environment.
Every day, you’ll play a part in that mission. From school groups experiencing the outdoors for the first time to adult learners developing their knowledge and confidence, the sessions you deliver will help people build a deeper understanding of the natural world.
Make a difference
As a tutor, you will deliver engaging science and geography field trips alongside a wide range of outdoor education experiences for school groups, colleges, universities, families, and adult learners.
Your role will include planning and delivering sessions, adapting activities to suit different learners, and making sure everything you do is safe and inclusive.
You will also contribute to the development of new activities and work closely with a supportive education team to improve and grow what we offer.
When you are not delivering in the field, you will support the wider running of a busy education centre. This is an active role, weekly hours will vary, with more during busy periods and fewer in quieter weeks. Some weeks can be busy and demanding, but it is also highly rewarding work.

Work surrounded by nature every day
Field Studies Council Epping Forest is set within an ancient woodland landscape where woodland, grassland, heathland and river habitats provide a varied outdoor classroom for learners of all ages. Surrounded by nature yet close to the capital, it offers a unique combination of forest and city environments.
As part of this role, you'll also work across our London locations, including several Royal Parks, helping learners connect with the natural environment in a wide range of settings.
Who we’re looking for
-
You’ll have a degree (or equivalent) in a relevant subject and some experience of teaching or tutoring.

You’ll be confident planning sessions, preparing learning resources, and engaging a wide range of learners.

Knowledge of the National Curriculum & Geography and Biology specifications would be advantageous.
