To lead, manage, and coordinate all casual scouting activity within Sector 3, ensuring comprehensive coverage of grassroots football across the designated region. The Sector 3 Scout Lead will be responsible for identifying high potential players aligned with the academy’s recruitment strategy, while maintaining high standards of reporting, communication, and safeguarding.
What You’ll Be Doing
We are looking for an experienced and motivated scout to lead and coordinate scouting activity across Sector 3 (Hull and surrounding areas), ensuring high-quality coverage of grassroots football and the identification of talented young players for Leeds United Academy.
Working closely with the Head of Local Recruitment, you will oversee a network of casual scouts, build strong local football relationships, and support the Academy's recruitment strategy through effective talent identification and reporting.
Key Responsibilities:
Scout Management & Coordination
Manage and support a network of casual scouts across Sector 3.
Allocate fixtures and ensure effective coverage of grassroots games, tournaments, and development centres.
Monitor scouting performance and reporting standards.
Conduct regular communication and feedback sessions with scouts.
Fixture & Coverage Planning
Create and maintain fixture coverage plans across the sector.
Ensure priority age groups (U7–U14) are consistently monitored.
Develop relationships with grassroots clubs, leagues, schools, and tournament organisers.
Maximise exposure to emerging talent environments.
Talent Identification
Identify players who align with the Academy's recruitment criteria.
Attend priority fixtures, tournaments, and cup finals when required.
Support identified players through the Academy's trial and assessment process.
Assess players across technical, tactical, physical, psychological, and social areas.
Reporting & Data Management
Ensure scouting reports are completed accurately and submitted within agreed deadlines.
Maintain a database of identified and monitored players.
Produce regular coverage updates for the Head of Local Recruitment.
Utilise technology and scouting platforms to support recruitment activity.
Communication & Collaboration
Act as the primary link between scouting staff and the Academy Recruitment Team.
Provide regular updates on player identification and local football activity.
Promote professional standards and represent Leeds United Academy positively at all times.
What We’re Looking For
You’ll have:
FA Level 1 Talent Identification qualification.
FA Safeguarding and First Aid qualifications (or willingness to obtain).
Enhanced DBS clearance.
Full UK driving licence.
Strong knowledge of grassroots football within the Hull and surrounding areas.
Excellent organisational, planning, and communication skills.
Strong observation and player assessment skills.
Ability to use technology and scouting platforms effectively.
Excellent local football contacts and networking skills.
Experience
Experience in grassroots and/or academy scouting.
Experience identifying talented young football players.
Experience producing player reports and profiling players.
Experience coordinating scouting activity or managing scouting coverage.
Experience working with recruitment and talent identification processes.
Experience building relationships with clubs, schools, leagues, and football organisations.
