Job Summary
We are seeking an experienced and motivated Retail Operations Manager to oversee the day-to-day management of our retail and takeaway operations. The successful candidate will be responsible for driving operational excellence, improving sales performance, managing staff, ensuring regulatory compliance, maintaining stock availability, and delivering an outstanding customer experience while supporting the continued growth of the business.
Responsibilities
- Manage the daily operations of the retail store and takeaway business to ensure efficient and profitable performance.
- Plan, organise and supervise retail activities to achieve sales and profitability targets.
- Recruit, train, motivate and supervise retail staff, ensuring high standards of performance and customer service.
- Prepare staff rotas and allocate duties to ensure adequate staffing during trading hours.
- Monitor employee performance, conduct performance reviews and identify training requirements.
- Develop and implement operational procedures to improve efficiency and productivity.
- Monitor daily sales, analyse business performance and prepare management reports.
- Manage inventory levels by forecasting demand and ensuring adequate stock availability.
- Liaise with suppliers, negotiate purchasing requirements and coordinate deliveries.
- Monitor product quality, stock rotation and minimise waste through effective inventory control.
- Ensure compliance with Food Hygiene Regulations, HACCP procedures and Health & Safety legislation.
- Investigate and resolve customer complaints promptly while maintaining high customer satisfaction.
- Monitor cash handling procedures, banking, financial records and stock reconciliation.
- Control operational costs and identify opportunities to improve profitability.
- Coordinate promotional campaigns and marketing initiatives to increase sales.
- Ensure visual merchandising and product displays meet company standards.
- Maintain security procedures to safeguard company assets and minimise stock losses.
- Monitor local market trends and competitor activity and recommend business improvements.
- Prepare operational reports for senior management and contribute to business planning.
- Support business expansion initiatives and continuous operational improvement projects.
- Ensure compliance with company policies, employment legislation and licensing requirements.
Experience
- Proven supervising experience within a retail environment or similar customer-facing roles.
- Demonstrated management skills with a track record of leading successful teams.
- Strong leadership qualities with the ability to inspire and influence others positively.
- Excellent organizational skills with the ability to prioritize tasks effectively in a fast-paced setting.
- Knowledge of retail operations systems, inventory control, and sales analytics is preferred.
