We have an opportunity for a part time Teacher (Sports) to join the team one day per week. As a Sports Teacher you will play a key role in planning and delivery of engaging, inclusive and challenging sports learning sessions, including embedded functional skills, for students participating in the Sports Pathway. The postholder will support students to develop sporting knowledge and skills, improve their health and wellbeing, build independence, confidence and employability skills, and contribute to the ongoing development of the College's Sports Pathway. The role also includes the planning and delivery of sports-related enrichment and wellbeing activities that enhance the wider student experience.
Key Role Specific Responsibilities:
- Management of learning environments, including support staff, equipment and resources.
- Plan and deliver engaging, practical and inclusive sports learning sessions, including embedded functional skills.
- Deliver accreditation where appropriate.
- Plan and deliver sports-related enrichment and wellbeing sessions that promote healthy lifestyles, confidence, resilience and teamwork.
- Baseline and ongoing assessment of students.
- Timely completion of administration relating to teaching, including assessment records, learning plans and progress reporting.
- Develop and utilise stimulating teaching resources, including the effective use of digital technologies.
- Contribute to the quality assurance of the Programme Area, including Self-Assessment, Quality Improvement and compliance activities.
- Contribute to the ongoing development of the Sports Pathway, ensuring learning opportunities remain relevant, engaging and responsive to student needs.
- Work collaboratively with the Sports & Leisure team to support wider sports, recreational and enrichment activities across the College.
- Support the development of partnerships and learning opportunities that enhance students' progression into active lifestyles, community participation and employment where appropriate.
- Safeguarding awareness and promotion of the welfare of vulnerable young adults.
- Work in partnership with the Therapies team and wider multidisciplinary colleagues to support learner development effectively.
- Any other duties as reasonably requested.
Person Specification:
Essential
-
Teaching qualification or relevant specialist qualification.
- Experience of teaching young adults with SEND.
- Ability to plan and deliver engaging, practical and inclusive learning.
- Interest in sport, physical activity and promoting healthy lifestyles.
- Relevant industry knowledge or experience appropriate to the Programme Area.
- Proven success working within a similar role.
- Knowledge of Ofsted and external quality standards.
- Knowledge of RARPA and accreditation processes where appropriate.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities.
- Excellent communication skills.
- Highly motivated and enthusiastic.
- Competent in Microsoft Office.
- Makaton understanding and competence.
