About the role
We are looking for an experienced Key Account Manager to manage and develop relationships with our major customers across the UK.
Working within the industrial doors, loading bays, automated gates and entrance-systems sector, you will be responsible for customer retention, service delivery and account growth. You will act as the main point of contact for key customers, coordinating with our operations, engineering and finance teams to ensure that we consistently meet our contractual commitments.
This role would suit a commercially aware account manager who understands facilities management, planned maintenance and engineering services.
Key responsibilities
- Manage a portfolio of key national and regional accounts.
- Build strong, long-term relationships with customers and key decision-makers.
- Act as the principal contact for account enquiries, service issues and contract reviews.
- Understand each customer’s sites, assets, service requirements and commercial objectives.
- Hold regular account-review meetings and present performance information.
- Monitor planned maintenance, reactive calls, quotations and outstanding works.
- Work closely with operations and engineering teams to maintain service standards.
- Ensure customer requests and escalations are managed promptly and professionally.
- Review account performance against agreed service-level agreements and KPIs.
- Prepare reports covering attendance, completion rates, outstanding quotations and asset condition.
- Identify opportunities for additional maintenance, repairs, upgrades and replacement equipment.
- Prepare proposals, quotations and contract-renewal documentation.
- Support tender submissions and mobilisation of new contracts.
- Maintain accurate customer, site and opportunity information within the company’s systems.
- Monitor account revenue, profitability and commercial performance.
- Assist with resolving invoice queries and overdue account matters.
- Ensure customer commitments are realistic, properly communicated and delivered.
- Represent the company at customer meetings, site visits and industry events.
- Travel throughout the UK and stay away overnight when required.
Essential requirements
- Previous key account management, contract management or business-development experience.
- Experience within engineering services, facilities management, construction, industrial doors, loading bays, automated gates or a related industry.
- Demonstrable experience managing large or multi-site customer accounts.
- Strong commercial awareness and negotiation skills.
- Ability to understand service contracts, KPIs and service-level agreements.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Confident conducting meetings and presenting performance information.
- Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities.
- Competence using CRM, Microsoft Office and reporting systems.
- Professional, reliable and customer-focused approach.
- Full UK driving licence.
- Willingness to travel nationwide.
Desirable experience
- Knowledge of industrial doors, loading bay equipment, automated gates or powered pedestrian doors.
- Experience working with facilities-management companies, property managers or national retailers.
- Experience managing planned preventative maintenance contracts.
- Understanding of asset registers, compliance reporting and remedial quotations.
- Experience with contract mobilisation, renewals and tender submissions.
- Existing relationships within the facilities-management or building-services sector.
