Job Overview
We are seeking a reliable and conscientious HGV Skip Driver to join our team working out of our Recycling Center in Newhaven. In this vital role, you will be responsible for safely operating Skip Loaders (HGVs) to collect, transport, and dispose of waste and recyclable materials. Your expertise will ensure efficient route driving, timely deliveries, and compliance with safety regulations. Duties
- Safely operating 18 ton Skip Lorry to deliver and collect skips from customers sites in Sussex.
- Load, unload and transport skips/waste materials safely and securely.
- Drive assigned routes efficiently, ensuring timely service for clients across designated areas.
- Maintain accurate logs of deliveries, pickups, fuel consumption, and vehicle inspections in compliance with company policies and legal requirements.
- Conduct routine vehicle inspections before and after shifts to ensure safety standards are met; report any maintenance issues promptly.
- Follow all traffic laws, safety protocols, and environmental regulations during daily operations.
Requirements
- Valid HGV license.
- Experience of operating 18t Skip Loaders is advantageous but not essential, as full training can be provided.
- Additional experience of operating 32t Roll on/off Loaders too would be advantageous.
- Strong understanding of safety procedures related to heavy vehicle operation and waste management regulations.
- Excellent driving record with a focus on safe driving practices in urban and rural environments.
- Good level of Physical fitness to handle lifting tasks and ability to work in various weather conditions.
