The opportunity has arisen for two QC Inspectors to join the small QC team at Fyffes Basingstoke.
Job Summary:
As a QC Inspector, you will play a key role in ensuring the quality and consistency of our fresh produce. You will be responsible for carrying out product sampling and inspections, accurately recording quality data, and working closely with colleagues across the Quality team to maintain high standards. The role involves identifying and investigating quality issues, solving problems, and adapting to changing priorities in a fast-paced environment. Full training will be provided, and we are looking for someone with a keen eye for detail, a proactive approach, and a commitment to delivering excellent quality standards.
Some Key Responsibilities:
Sampling Operations
Support the accurate and timely collection of produce samples to ensure quality standards are consistently met. Carry out sampling activities in accordance with established procedures to facilitate the early identification of defects and maintain product consistency.
Data Recording and System Entry
Maintain accurate and up-to-date records within the Quality Control (QC) system, ensuring all inspection and sampling data is entered correctly and securely. Produce reliable records that support product traceability, reporting, and informed decision-making.
Product Inspection
Undertake visual and physical inspections of produce following appropriate training, identifying any deviations from specification or quality standards. Escalate findings as required to help prevent non-conforming products from reaching customers and to uphold product quality.
Team Collaboration
Work collaboratively with QC colleagues and cross-functional teams to coordinate quality checks, communicate findings, and support the timely resolution of quality-related issues.
Health, Safety and Manual Handling
Adhere to all health and safety procedures and safe systems of work at all times. Safely carry out manual handling activities, including lifting and moving boxes weighing up to 21kg, in line with company guidelines and training.
What We're Looking For:
- Strong numerical skills, to accurately record and interpret data within the QC system.
- Clear and confident communication skills, to collaborate with team members and liaise with other departments.
- Attention to detail and a methodical approach, which are critical when inspecting products and identifying inconsistencies.
- Profiency in MS Office applications, particularly Excel and Word, are essential for managing documentation and reporting.
- Ability to work independently, take initiative and contribute positively within a team environment.
- Familiarity with data entry, basic inspection tasks or working in a manufacturing or warehouse environment is advantageous.
Additional Details:
- This is a full-time role, working 40 hours per week from Monday to Friday.
- Hours of work are from 7.30am to 4.30pm, with one unpaid break of 60 minutes.
- The position will be based in Basingstoke, but some travel to other Fyffes locations within the UK will be required.
