As part of our continued growth, we are looking to recruit a Senior Fire & Electrical Engineer to become a key member of our expanding engineering team. This is an excellent opportunity for an ambitious engineer who wants to play a leading role in developing and growing a Fire & Electrical division within an established business.
This role would suit either:
- An experienced Fire Alarm Engineer with strong electrical knowledge; or
- A qualified Electrician with fire alarm experience looking to further develop their skills.
The successful candidate will initially work independently across our portfolio while helping establish systems, procedures, and standards for the division. As the department grows, you will have the opportunity to supervise and support additional engineers recruited into the team.
The Role
You will be responsible for delivering planned preventative maintenance, reactive repairs, fault finding, testing, inspections, and installations across fire alarm and electrical systems.
You will work across a variety of commercial, educational, healthcare, and residential environments throughout London and the South East.
The role is primarily field-based and includes the use of a company vehicle, laptop, and mobile phone.
Key ResponsibilitiesFire Alarm Systems
- Service, maintain, test, and fault-find fire alarm systems.
- Carry out reactive repairs and remedial works.
- Diagnose system faults and provide effective solutions.
- Complete fire alarm inspections and compliance documentation.
- Assist with fire alarm upgrades and installations.
Electrical Maintenance
- Carry out planned preventative maintenance (PPM) on electrical systems.
- Undertake reactive electrical repairs and fault finding.
- Complete small electrical installation works.
- Perform electrical inspections and testing.
- Assist with Electrical Installation Condition Reports (EICRs).
- Ensure all works comply with current regulations and standards.
Security Systems (Desirable)
Experience with any of the following would be advantageous:
- CCTV systems
- Access control systems
- Intruder alarm systems
- Automatic gates and barriers
Training & development is key to this role and will be provided.
Leadership & Development
- Support the continued growth of the Fire & Electrical division.
- Assist with developing engineering procedures and standards.
- Provide technical support and guidance to junior engineers.
- Help supervise and mentor future engineers as the team expands.
- Liaise with approved subcontractors where specialist support is required.
Compliance & Client Management
- Maintain accurate service records and reports.
- Ensure all work is completed safely and professionally.
- Provide technical advice and recommendations to clients.
- Represent the company professionally at all times.
Essential Requirements
- 18th Edition Wiring Regulations.
- Experience servicing and fault-finding fire alarm systems.
- Strong electrical maintenance and fault-finding experience.
- Ability to work independently and manage workload effectively.
- Full UK Driving Licence.
- Good communication and customer service skills.
Desirable Qualifications & Experience
- NVQ Level 3 Electrical Installation (or equivalent).
- Inspection & Testing qualification (2391 or equivalent).
- Experience carrying out EICRs.
- FIA qualifications.
- Experience with CCTV, Access Control, or Intruder Alarm systems.
- Experience supervising engineers or subcontractors.
