Job Purpose
The Takeaway Delivery Driver is responsible for delivering customer orders safely, accurately and on time while providing exceptional customer service. Every delivery is an opportunity to create a positive impression of the business, encouraging repeat custom and positive online reviews.
When not completing deliveries, drivers are expected to remain in-store and support the operation by assisting with non-food preparation tasks and general housekeeping duties. Drivers are an important part of the team and are expected to contribute to the smooth running of the store throughout their shift.
Key ResponsibilitiesDeliveries
- Deliver customer orders safely, accurately and within company delivery time targets.
- Ensure every order is checked before leaving the store.
- Handle food carefully to maintain presentation and quality during transport.
- Follow the most efficient delivery route wherever possible.
- Maintain a professional, friendly and courteous manner with every customer.
- Follow all road traffic laws and drive safely at all times.
- Report any delays, accidents, complaints or delivery issues to the Shift Manager immediately.
- Ensure company delivery bags and equipment are kept clean and returned after every delivery.
n-Store Responsibilities
When there are no deliveries waiting, drivers must remain in the store and be available for immediate dispatch.
During this time, drivers are expected to actively support the team by:
- Folding and preparing takeaway boxes.
- Preparing delivery bags and packaging materials.
- Restocking packaging, sauces, drinks and customer consumables.
- Keeping the front counter and customer waiting area clean and presentable.
- Cleaning tables and customer-facing areas where required.
- Emptying bins and maintaining general cleanliness.
- Assisting with stock organisation and replenishment.
- Supporting managers with reasonable operational tasks.
- Helping maintain a clean, organised and efficient working environment.
Drivers are not expected to prepare food or actively work within the kitchen unless specifically trained and authorised to do so.
Customer Service & Reviews
Every customer interaction matters. Drivers are expected to represent the business professionally and contribute towards maintaining excellent customer satisfaction.
Drivers should:
- Be polite, friendly and professional at all times.
- Deliver orders with a positive attitude and excellent customer service.
- Ensure orders arrive in excellent condition.
- Politely encourage satisfied customers to leave a positive Google or delivery platform review where appropriate.
- Understand that positive reviews directly contribute to the success of the business.
- Immediately report customer concerns or complaints so they can be resolved quickly
