Overview
We are seeking a compassionate and enthusiastic Activity Coordinator to join our team in providing engaging and meaningful activities for residents in a care home setting. The successful candidate will play a vital role in enhancing the quality of life for our residents, particularly those requiring specialised care such as dementia and Alzheimer's.
Responsibilities
- Plan, organise, and facilitate a variety of recreational activities tailored to residents’ interests and needs, including social, physical, cognitive, and creative pursuits.
- Foster an inclusive environment that encourages participation among residents with diverse abilities, including those with dementia or Alzheimer's.
- Collaborate with care staff to assess individual resident preferences and develop personalised activity plans.
- Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of activities, making adjustments as necessary to maximise engagement and enjoyment.
- Maintain accurate records of activities conducted and resident participation levels.
- Promote social interaction and community involvement through organised events and outings.
- Ensure all activities are conducted safely, adhering to health and safety guidelines at all times.
Requirements
- Previous experience working in an activity role or assisted living, nursing homes, or care environments is preferable. Training will be given
- Knowledge of dementia care and Alzheimer’s care principles is benefical.
- Strong communication skills to effectively engage with residents, families, and staff members.
- Compassionate approach with genuine interest in enhancing the well-being of older adults.
- Ability to organise engaging activities that cater to a wide range of abilities and interests.
- Flexibility to adapt programmes based on residents’ changing needs and preferences.
- A recognised qualification or training related to caregiving or activity coordination is preferred but not essential.

Pay: £12.81 per hour
