The children, staff, Governors wish to recruit an enthusiastic, highly motivated and capable Senior Educational Teaching Assistant to fulfil the role of Cover Supervisor and to play a key role in the development of our school.
Birkenshaw CE (C) Primary School is a thriving, happy and popular school with an excellent reputation in the local community.
‘Leaders have created an exciting place to learn.’ We are a good school and ‘the pupils at Birkenshaw are very positive about their school. The well-being of pupils is at the heart of all the school does.’ (OFSTED April 2022)
We are a large and friendly staff team, who support each other’s professional development and we work closely with other schools in the area. We have spacious grounds with playgrounds, a ball court, adventure equipment, a woodland area, kitchen garden and a pond. We offer a wide range of curriculum enrichment opportunities as well as a variety of extra-curricular after school clubs.
‘Parents and carers are extremely positive about the school and its staff. They hold leaders in very high regard. Staff report an open culture where leaders routinely consider workload and wellbeing. Staff value the training and professional development opportunities provided, particularly their work with other local partner schools.’ (OFSTED April 2026).
We are looking to increase capacity within the teaching and learning team in school. As part of this development, we wish to appoint a cover supervisor to be responsible for covering and delivering prepared lessons, from Nursery to Year 6, in the absence of the class teacher.
The ideal candidate will be proactive, positive and flexible, a great team player with excellent communication skills and will be responsible for the development of effective mentoring relationships with both children and their parents.
We welcome applications both from experienced cover supervisors or from those with other relevant experience of working with children or young people who can demonstrate their ability to engage children and fulfil the job specification.
