The Opportunity
We have a fantastic opportunity for a permanent Senior Geotechnical Engineer to join our Consulting Geotechnical Practice, preferably based in our Birmingham, Manchester York or Cardiff.
The successful candidate will play an integral role within the geotechnical team responsible for delivering geotechnical projects across England and Wales. The team delivers a range of local, national and international projects for clients including National Highways, Local Governments, Ministry of Justice, Ministry of Defence and Welsh Government.
Our geotechnical team works closely with our International Design Hub based multidisciplinary team encapsulating Highway Engineering, Bridge/Structural Engineering, Geo-Environmental Engineering and Traffic Engineering/Transport Planning. Via this multidisciplinary team, and utilising the businesses within the wider Amey Group such as Amey Transport Infrastructure, Amey Consulting are able to deliver projects from feasibility right through to post construction close out. The Amey Geotechnical Practice
Our Geotechnical Practice has a total of 70 geotechnical and Geo-Environmental practitioners, comprising experienced Geotechnical Engineers, Engineering Geologists and Geo-Environmental Consultants, which play a pivotal role on all our major and minor civil/structural engineering schemes.
Our core geotechnical consultancy services include the following:

Desk Studies / Feasibility Assessments

Ground Investigations – scoping, planning, procuring, supervising and reporting

Design of earthworks, rock slopes, reinforced soil, foundations, retaining structures and ground improvement schemes

Technical review and Geotechnical Risk Analysis

Geotechnical Asset Management
In addition, the Geotechnical Practice provides input into Contract Documents and Health and Safety Documents for Tendering Construction Packages, while offering design support to multi-discipline site teams during construction works on all geotechnical elements.
The Role
As a Senior Geotechnical Engineer you will provide effective support and assistance to the Principal Engineer and/or Technical Director on a variety of ground engineering schemes whilst taking the lead on projects and mentoring junior engineers and technicians. Responsibilities include:
Preparation and checking of designs, calculations, drawings and documentation as part of the production of scheme deliverables that satisfy the criteria of quality, cost and programme.

Have achieved Chartered or Incorporated status as defined by the Engineering Council, Engineers Ireland, Geological Society of London, Institute of Geologists of Ireland or another relevant professional body.
