The Role
We are seeking a highly skilled and passionate Autism Specialist Outreach Teacher to deliver specialist support across primary mainstream schools, improving outcomes for children with autism spectrum condition (ASC).
This is a dynamic outreach role working across a range of settings, where you will provide expert advice, model effective practice and build capacity within schools. You will play a key role in empowering staff, supporting inclusive practice and ensuring children with ASC can fully access learning and achieve their potential.
Key responsibilities include:
- Providing specialist advice, guidance and support to schools on meeting the needs of pupils with ASC, including those within additionally resourced provisions
- Observing teaching and learning, offering constructive feedback, coaching and modelling to improve practice
- Supporting schools to set and review individual targets and implement effective strategies and interventions
- Delivering and contributing to high-quality training and CPD for school staff across the borough
- Working in close partnership with parents, carers and professionals to support children’s development and inclusion
- Contributing to the development of resources and approaches that enhance access to the curriculum and school environment
- Supporting collaborative multi-agency working to ensure coordinated and effective provision
- Maintaining accurate records and contributing to service development and continuous improvement

The Person
We are looking for an experienced and committed teacher with specialist knowledge of autism and a passion for inclusive education.
You will:
- Hold Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) and have a teaching degree or equivalent
- Have significant experience working in primary mainstream settings with children with ASC
- Bring in-depth knowledge of autism, including effective strategies, interventions and inclusive approaches
- Have experience supporting staff development through coaching, mentoring or delivering training
- Demonstrate a strong understanding of SEND legislation, inclusion and best practice
- Be confident working in partnership with SENCOs, parents, carers and multi-agency professionals
- Have excellent communication, interpersonal and influencing skills, with the ability to build strong relationships
- Be highly organised, able to manage your own workload and work flexibly across multiple settings
- Be committed to continuous professional development and improving outcomes for children with SEND
