Cardiff and Vale College is looking for a motivated and enthusiastic Systems, Reporting and Automation Apprentice to join our Management Information Systems (MIS) team.
This is an exciting opportunity for someone looking to build a career in systems development, data and business intelligence within a large and innovative college environment. Working alongside experienced Systems Developers and reporting to the Systems & Reporting Lead, you will receive structured training and hands-on experience whilst supporting key business systems across the College.
As part of the apprenticeship, you will work towards a Level 4 Software Developer qualification, gaining valuable technical skills and industry-recognised experience.
You will help develop and maintain reports, dashboards, data integrations, bespoke systems and automated processes that support colleagues across the organisation. As your skills and experience grow, you will gain increasing responsibility and contribute to the delivery of digital solutions that improve services for staff and learners.
This role is designed as a development pathway into a future Systems Developer position and would suit someone with a passion for technology, problem-solving and continuous learning.
Due to apprenticeship funding regulations, applicants must not already hold a qualification at the same level or a higher level in a closely related subject area to this apprenticeship. This includes, but is not limited to, qualifications in Software Development, Computer Science, Systems Development, Application Development, Programming or Coding.
Candidates who hold a qualification at the same or a higher level in a different subject area may still be eligible and are encouraged to apply.

You will:
- Undertake structured training and development in systems development, reporting and data management.
- Support the development and maintenance of bespoke systems and digital tools.
- Assist with system integrations and automated business processes.
- Help develop reports, dashboards and data models.
- Support testing, validation and troubleshooting activities.
- Assist with technical documentation and process improvement initiatives.
- Work collaboratively with colleagues across the Information Systems team.
- Develop an understanding of key College systems, including EBS, iTrent and NetSuite.

You will be keen to learn new technical skills, develop professionally and build a successful career within systems development. You will also be organised, methodical and detail-orientated, with the ability to work effectively as part of a team and take initiative when required.
