Summary
The Repair & Test Technician will be responsible for establishing and operating a UK-based inspection, testing, and light repair capability to support Petroassist’s component repair workflow.
The primary objective of the role is to act as a quality control and buffering function for components repaired externally, while also delivering in-house diagnostics, repair, and refurbishment of selected equipment — primarily motors and vapour recovery (VR) motors.
This position is critical in ensuring that all components deployed into the field meet defined performance, safety, and reliability standards, while improving turnaround times and operational resilience.
Responsibilities
1. Inspection & Quality Assurance (Primary Focus)
- Receive and inspect components repaired by external partners (e.g. Portugal facility)
- Perform functional testing and validation to confirm repair quality and operational readiness
- Identify defects, inconsistencies, or substandard repairs and escalate accordingly
- Maintain structured QA records, including test results, failure modes, and rejection rates
- Act as the final quality gate before components are released to field technicians
2. Diagnostics, Repair & Refurbishment (Secondary Focus)
- Diagnose faults in fuel system components, with emphasis on:
- Electric motors
- Vapour recovery (VR) motors
- Carry out strip-down, repair, and rebuild of components where required
- Replace defective parts and perform refurbishments to extend component lifecycle
- Ensure all repairs meet internal standards and manufacturer specifications
3. Testing & Calibration
- Conduct post-repair functional testing and performance validation
- Ensure all components meet required operational tolerances and safety standards
- Support the development and standardisation of testing procedures and protocols
4. Workshop & Process Support
- Support the setup and continuous improvement of the Loanhead workshop capability
- Maintain tools, test equipment, and a clean, organised working environment
- Assist in managing spare parts inventory and component traceability
- Provide feedback on recurring issues to support supplier quality improvement
- Perform functional testing and validation to confirm repair quality and operational readiness

Qualifications
- Technical qualification in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering (NVQ/HNC/HND or equivalent preferred)
- Relevant experience may be considered in lieu of formal qualifications Proven mechanical knowledge relevant to fuel system components.
- Experience with hand tools and power tools for maintenance tasks.
- Strong problem-solving skills with attention to detail.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Excellent communication skills.
- Prior experience in fuel systems or related industries is preferred.
- Relevant technical certifications are advantageous.
