We’re Plates, a new, independent, family-run café and wine bar coming to Hillsborough this September.
By day, we’ll be serving brunch, great coffee and fabulous food. By night, we’ll become a lively wine and cocktail bar, serving a thoughtfully created menu, great drinks in a relaxed atmosphere.
We’re now building our opening team and looking for an ambitious, passionate Manager to help us make Plates something really special.

We’re looking for someone who is hands-on, confident, creative and genuinely loves hospitality. Someone who wants to build a great team, deliver brilliant service and have a real say in how Plates grows.

As Manager, you’ll take ownership of the overall operation and work closely with the owners to help make Plates the success we know it can be.
You'll be responsible for:
- Leading and motivating the team across brunch, daytime service and evening trade
- Working closely with the owners to establish and maintain the culture of the business
- Recruiting, training and developing an excellent hospitality team
- Managing rotas, staffing levels and day-to-day operations
- Maintaining consistently high standards of service, food, drinks and cleanliness
- Taking responsibility for opening and closing procedures
- Managing stock, ordering, waste and costs
- Supporting the team during busy services and leading from the front
- Helping develop and maintain our drinks, wine and service standards
- Monitoring performance and helping the business grow commercially
- Most importantly, creating an environment where people genuinely enjoy coming to work
You'll ideally have:
- Strong hospitality management experience, ideally 2+ years
- Experience managing and developing a team
- Excellent customer service instincts
- Confidence managing busy services
- A hands-on approach - we’re looking for a leader who will be on the floor with the team
- The personality to help create a positive, fun and ambitious team
