About the Role
Balbir Singh Dance Company is seeking to hire a Trainee Producer to gain insight and bring skills to contribute to the workload of an arts organisation with hands on experience. This is a freelance role, with flexibility across the week and a combination of attending relevant events and in-person work at our office in Leeds.
Projects include:
Summer programme of performances, exhibitions, festivals and nature walks
Projects involve:
Durham University Botanic Gardens
Durham University Oriental Museum
Green spaces in Leeds
Billingham International Folklore Festival
Thomas and Guys Hospital London
Areas to gain experience and contribute
- The role of a Producer
- To work collaboratively as part of a small core team
- Support administrative tasks
- Develop awareness of environmental sustainability efforts across the company’s projects
- Assist in logistics, planning and delivery of events and performances
- Shadow liaising with venues, festivals, artists and partner organisations
- Contribute to fundraising applications
- Engage with company communications internal and external
- Support the Artistic Vision of the Artistic Director
- Other such relevant work
Person Specification
We are looking for someone with:
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Outgoing warm personality with a can do attitude
- Willing to work outside of comfort zones
- Experience or keenness in Producing (with transferable skills)
- Self-starter able to work as part of a team and independently in a fast paced environment
- An understanding of the cultural sector and working with artists
- Familiarity with working in diverse communities
- An interest in dance, performance, arts and health projects, cultural education
