As we continue to grow, we are looking for an experienced and driven Contracts Manager / Project Manager to join the team and take ownership of multiple live projects, ensuring everything runs smoothly from start to finish.
The Role
This is a hands-on, client-facing role for someone who thrives on being in the thick of it. You'll be responsible for overseeing multiple projects across Sussex simultaneously, managing subcontractors and suppliers, keeping programmes on track and making sure every client has an exceptional experience throughout.
You'll be the face of Cooke & Charman on site and the key point of contact for our clients — so as much as you need to understand the build, you need to be someone people trust and enjoy working with.

What You'll Be Doing
- Managing multiple construction projects across Sussex from handover to completion
- Being the main point of contact for clients throughout the build, keeping them informed, confident and happy
- Ensuring all projects are delivered on programme, on budget and to the highest possible standard
- Managing and coordinating subcontractors, suppliers and site teams
- Identifying and resolving issues on site before they become problems
- Carrying out regular site visits and progress meetings
- Maintaining strong relationships with clients, architects, designers and other professionals
- Reporting to senior management on project progress, costs and any risks
- Upholding Cooke & Charman's reputation for quality and professionalism at all times
What We're Looking For
- Proven experience in construction is essential — you must have a solid understanding of the build process from the ground up
- Previous experience in a Contracts Manager, Project Manager or senior Site Manager role
- The ability to manage multiple projects and priorities without letting standards slip
- Strong client-facing skills — you'll be confident, personable and able to manage expectations with ease
- Excellent organisational and communication skills
- A natural problem solver who stays calm under pressure
- SMSTS
- A full UK driving licence is essential

Pay: £31,815.40-£60,803.08 per year
