Overview
We are seeking a skilled Forklift Driver (Counterbalance) to join our warehouse team. The successful candidate will be responsible for efficiently and safely handling materials, operating forklift equipment, and supporting overall warehouse operations. This role offers an excellent opportunity for individuals with fast paced warehouse experience and mechanical aptitude to contribute to a dynamic logistics environment. The position involves working in a fast-paced setting where safety, accuracy, and organisation are paramount.
Responsibilities
- Operate counterbalance forklift to load, unload, and transport materials within the warehouse
- Manage stock movement using Warehouse Management System (WMS) to ensure accurate inventory control
- Assist with shipping and receiving activities, including verifying incoming and outgoing shipments
- Conduct routine equipment inspections and perform basic repairs or notify maintenance for mechanical issues
- Handle materials safely, ensuring proper stacking and storage to prevent damage or hazards
- Support warehouse organisation by maintaining clean and tidy work areas
- Collaborate with team members to meet daily operational targets and deadlines
- Utilise basic maths skills for counting, measuring, and verifying quantities during stock handling
Experience
- Proven experience operating a counterbalance forklift in a warehouse or logistics environment
- Knowledge of warehouse management systems (WMS) and inventory control procedures
- Mechanical knowledge related to equipment repair and troubleshooting
- Experience in materials handling, load & unload operations, and shipping & receiving processes
- Strong organisational skills with the ability to prioritise tasks effectively
- Physical capability for heavy lifting and prolonged periods of standing or moving within the warehouse environment
- Previous warehouse experience is highly desirable but not essential for candidates with relevant skills and aptitude
Pay: £13.93-£15.72 per hour
