Cardiff and Vale College is looking for an enthusiastic and dedicated Lecturer in Essential Skills to join our Engineering team on a fixed-term basis until July 2027, with a typical working week of up to 29.6 hours. The successful candidate will support learners to develop the literacy and numeracy skills needed to achieve their qualifications, progress in education and succeed in their chosen careers.
Working across College campuses, you will play a key role in delivering high-quality learning experiences and helping learners reach their full potential in a supportive and inclusive environment.
You will deliver engaging and effective teaching in Essential Communication Skills and Essential Application of Number Skills from Entry Level through to Level 2. Alongside teaching, you will support learner progress, work closely with curriculum teams, maintain accurate records and contribute to the wider success of the department and College.
You will also help identify learners who may require additional support and work collaboratively with colleagues and support services to ensure every learner has the opportunity to succeed.
You will be a passionate and learner-focused educator with experience of delivering high-quality teaching and learning. You will be able to engage and motivate learners from a range of backgrounds and support them to achieve their goals.
You will have relevant teaching experience, strong communication and organisational skills, good digital literacy and an understanding of equality, diversity, safeguarding, learner wellbeing and Additional Learning Needs. You will also hold an appropriate degree or possess equivalent relevant experience and either hold, or be willing to work towards, a recognised teaching qualification.
A flexible approach, willingness to work across campuses and a commitment to continuous professional development are essential. The ability to speak Welsh, or a willingness to learn, would be welcomed.
