About the Role:
The Founding Principal will play a pivotal role in establishing Wonder Star Futures, a brand-new specialist post-16 community college for young people aged 16–25 with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND).
Working closely with the Director, the successful candidate will help shape every aspect of the college before opening, including its culture, curriculum, staffing, admissions, policies and relationships with local authorities, families and partner organisations.
Following the college's opening, the Founding Principal will provide strategic and operational leadership, ensuring outstanding educational provision that prepares young people for adulthood through personalised learning, employability, wellbeing, belonging and independence.

Key Responsibilities:
The role will include:
- Leading the establishment of Wonder Star Futures prior to opening.
- Developing an outstanding Preparation for Adulthood curriculum.
- Building strong relationships with Local Authorities, schools, employers, community organisations and families.
- Supporting admissions and learner transitions.
- Recruiting, inspiring and developing the founding staff team.
- Ensuring compliance with Natspec, DfE, Ofsted and all statutory requirements.
- Creating an aspirational college culture where young adults are prepared for employment, independent living and community participation.
