Role Overview
Lambert Medical Practice is seeking a reliable and personable Healthcare Assistant (HCA) / Phlebotomist to join our growing clinical team. This is a hands-on, patient-facing role suited to someone with strong venepuncture skills, excellent attention to detail, and a genuine commitment to patient care within a private, multidisciplinary healthcare setting.
You will work alongside our Lead GP & Clinical Director and wider clinical and admin team, supporting a diverse patient base with a strong representation from the Portuguese, Brazilian, and wider South West London community.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform venepuncture (blood draws) safely and competently across a wide range of patients, including anxious or needle-phobic individuals
- Prepare, label, and process blood samples in line with laboratory requirements (including Alderley Lighthouse Labs, Better2Know, and Datar Cancer Genetics testing pathways)
- Carry out basic health checks, including blood pressure, height, weight, BMI, and urinalysis
- Support clinical staff with routine health screening services (e.g. Well Man/Well Woman checks, Hormonal MOTs)
- Perform ECGs accurately and ensure results are correctly filed against patient records
- Administer vitamin injections (e.g. B12, vitamin D, and other prescribed intramuscular/subcutaneous injections) in line with practice protocols and PGDs/PSDs as applicable
- Ensure correct use of the HaemoSync platform for sample logging, tracking, and result reporting
- Maintain accurate patient records in line with GDPR and clinical governance standards
- Adhere to strict infection control, sharps disposal, and health & safety protocols
- Ensure patient comfort, dignity, and confidentiality at all times
- Support clinic flow by liaising with reception and clinical staff to keep appointments running to time
- Maintain stock levels of phlebotomy and clinical consumables, flagging reordering needs
Essential Skills & Experience
- Proven phlebotomy experience (minimum 1 year), ideally in a GP, private clinic, hospital, or laboratory setting
- Recognised phlebotomy qualification/certificate
- Confident venepuncture technique across varied patient groups, including difficult veins
- Competent in performing and recording 12-lead ECGs
- Experience administering intramuscular/subcutaneous injections, including vitamin injections (B12, vitamin D, etc.)
- Strong understanding of infection control and clinical waste procedures
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with a calm and reassuring manner
- High attention to detail, particularly around sample labelling and patient identification
- Comfortable using digital systems for patient records and sample tracking (Cliniko experience an advantage)
- Reliable, punctual, and professional in appearance and conduct
Desirable
- Additional HCA competencies (e.g. basic observations, near-patient testing)
- Experience working in a private healthcare or aesthetics/wellness clinic
- Portuguese or Polish language skills (an advantage given our patient demographic)
- Experience with insurance-funded or self-pay private patients
Hours & Pay
- Pay: £20.00 per hour
