An exciting opportunity has arisen to appoint a Band 3 Clinical Support Worker to join our recently refigured service within the children's outpatients/ planned care setting.
The role will include supporting the delivery of clinics in a Paediatric Outpatient setting cross-site. The service also supports specialist clinics from tertiary hospitals, delivers pre-assessment and the team undertake nurse led testing in areas such as Endocrine, Allergy and Asthma.
At ESHT, we are looking for a motivated candidate who wants to develop their skills to meet the evolving needs of the service. The successful applicant will be adaptable, enjoy working within a multidisciplinary team across site and willing to learn new skills, specifically venepuncture and cannulation to help support paediatric phlebotomy clinics.
Paediatric Outpatients/Planned Care includes Day Surgery cross site. Day surgery covers a range of specialties such as Ophthalmology, ENT and MRI's. The team currently runs paediatric pre-assessments three times a week, and the demand for this is ever increasing. The role will offer an exciting opportunity to participate in supporting day surgery and offers variety within the role.
- Undertaking personal care duties, such as toileting, bathing and dressing / undressing.
- Assist with eating and drinking in line with care plan from Registered
Professional including support with feeding and recording of diet and
fluids.
- Assist patients to achieve rest and sleep by attending to their comfort
needs when required.
- Supporting patients to maintain function and normal activities of daily
living where safe to do so to prevent deconditioning whilst in hospital.
- Promote dignity, respect and privacy in the delivery of care duties
- To undertake patients’ vital signs, blood pressure, pulse, pulse oximetry,
height, weight, neurological assessment, ECG, respirations, urinalysis,
blood glucose, pregnancy testing and escalate concerns in line with
policy
- Recognition of deteriorating patient and escalation process
Generic JD Band 3 Clinical Support Worker – Higher Level
- Provide delegated clinical procedures such as insertion/removal of
cannula, venepuncture, wound assessment and simple dressings,
removal of urinary catheter
- Safeguard the well-being and health of patients by reporting concerns
Promote and maintain a clean and tidy care environment. This includes:
- Disposal of general and clinical waste
Assist in the orientation of patients to the care environment and available
facilities (if hospital/clinical settings).
Documentation of care actions and findings.
Promote good communication and adhere to Trust values.
