JOB OVERVIEW:
As the Yard Operative, you will be responsible for working as part of a team assisting with day-to-day operations within the Lockerbie yard and stores, to ensure high standards are maintained and Health & Safety procedures are adhered to at all times.
KEY DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
Key duties and responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to:
- Ensure deliveries are loaded and offloaded safely and in compliance with the company’s Health & Safety procedures.
- Responsible for checking and counting inventory stock.
- Ensure the yard and storage areas are kept clean, tidy and compliant with the company policies and procedures.
- Assist with processing, checking and signing in deliveries.
- Maintain discrepancy records reporting in a timely, efficient manner.
- Follow and abide by company policies and procedures at all times.
- Deliver a high standard of service to delivery drivers and customers.
- Undertake additional duties as and when required.
PERSON SPECIFICATION:
- Previous experience in undertaking yard duties; loading & unloading trailers.
- An understanding of Health & Safety and manual handling regulations.
- Must hold a valid Forklift License.
- Basic literacy and numeracy skills.
- Enthusiastic individual who can work well as part of a small team and independently.
- Able to identify improvements to processes and contribute ideas that enhance efficiency and effectiveness.
- Ability to work well under pressure and to tight deadlines.
