Job Title: Journal Launch Assistant, BMJ Journals
Contract: Permanent (full-time)
Salary: £35,017 (per annum)
Location: London/hybrid

Job Purpose:
The Journal Launch Assistant supports the Launch Excellence Manager and the Journal Launch Specialist in the project management of new journal launches and acquisitions. The role holder ensures the smooth, timely, and on-budget delivery of journal launches and acquisitions by providing proactive administrative and operational support.
Responsibilities

Work closely with the Launch Excellence Manager and Journal Launch Specialists to support the launch and acquisition of multiple journals at any one time.

Coordinate launch and acquisition projects, ensuring deadlines are met and all stakeholders are kept up-to-date.

Ensure project documentation is up-to-date and accessible to all team members.

Support central journal launch process (e.g., updating information sheets, website updates, indexing applications).

Help to track key metrics and create slides and updates for circulation.

Support the coordination of editor recruitment efforts, including posting adverts, managing outreach lists, tracking timelines, and flagging potential delays or resource conflicts.

Draft and edit external-facing documents, such as welcome packs and launch information for new Editors and editorial boards.

Assist in preparing information for strategy sessions, organising supporting documentation, gathering data, and following up on action items from meetings with various department representatives.

Perform Research Integrity checks on potential acquisitions.

Help to prepare and organise materials for content acquisition plan and coordinate responses for proposals from cross-department teams.
Skills, Experience & Qualifications

Experience of working in an STM publishing environment.

Educated to degree level, or with equivalent qualification or experience.

Excellent organisational skills including the ability to handle multiple projects

Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Strong computer literacy and familiarity with online research e.g. searching scholarly databases.

Self motivated and output oriented.
