About the Role
Working alongside our experienced project, technical and manufacturing teams, you will help turn customer requirements and project information into accurate drawings and practical solutions ready for manufacture.
This is a varied role combining CAD and technical drawing with hands-on manufacturing, including the setup and operation of CNC machinery. You will be involved in projects from drawing and preparation through to production, giving you a strong understanding of how bespoke products are designed, manufactured and assembled.
Full training will be provided where required, so previous CNC experience is beneficial but not essential.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Producing 2D and 3D drawings using CAD and SketchUp.
- Preparing accurate technical and manufacturing drawings.
- Developing drawings from customer briefs, site information and project requirements.
- Making amendments and revisions to drawings throughout a project.
- Preparing files and programs for CNC production.
- Setting up and operating CNC machinery to manufacture components.
- Checking CNC-produced components for accuracy and quality.
- Working closely with the workshop team to ensure drawings and CNC files are practical and ready for production.
- Checking dimensions, materials and construction details.
- Helping to solve practical and technical challenges on bespoke projects.
- Supporting projects from initial drawings through to manufacture and installation.
- Building an understanding of materials, hardware, joinery methods and manufacturing processes.
- Assisting with 3D printing and other production processes where required.
What We're Looking ForEssential
- Some experience using CAD software and/or SketchUp.
- Good attention to detail and accuracy.
- An interest in CNC machining, manufacturing and how products are constructed.
- A willingness to work in both an office/design environment and a workshop environment.
- Good problem-solving skills and a practical mindset.
- Strong communication and organisational skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- A positive attitude and willingness to learn new machinery and processes.
Desirable
- Previous experience operating or programming CNC machinery.
- Experience producing technical or manufacturing drawings.
- Basic understanding of joinery, woodworking or manufacturing.
- Knowledge of 3D modelling or 3D printing.
- Relevant qualifications in Engineering, CAD, Product Design, Furniture, Joinery, Manufacturing or a related discipline.
Previous CNC experience is not essential, as full training can be provided. We are more interested in finding someone who is technically minded, practical and keen to learn.
Training & Development
Successful candidates will receive training and experience in areas including:
- CNC setup, programming and operation.
- CAD and preparation of files for CNC production.
- Technical and manufacturing drawings.
- Manufacturing and production methods.
- Joinery techniques and workshop practices.
- Materials, fittings and construction methods.
- Programming and operating commercial 3D printers.
- Taking projects from drawings through to finished manufacture.
This role is particularly suited to someone who enjoys a mixture of computer-based technical work and hands-on manufacturing. Rather than spending every day behind a desk, you'll have the opportunity to take what you've drawn on screen and be involved in actually producing it in the workshop.
