This is an exciting opportunity for an outstanding midwifery academic to join a highly professional and motivated team to teach across our midwifery programmes at the University of Worcester. The School of Nursing and Midwifery has a reputation for contemporary and innovative Nursing and Midwifery provision, including BSc Midwifery, Midwifery Degree Apprenticeship, MSc Midwifery (Shortened) and postgraduate modules.
The focus of this post is the delivery and leadership of pre-registration BSc Midwifery to ensure that midwives at the point of registration, are equipped to provide skilled, knowledgeable, respectful and compassionate care. Women, birthing people and families are at the heart of our teaching, and this is reflected in our knowledgeable, kind and committed students. The successful individual will work alongside the Lead Midwife for Education (LME), in the role of Course Leader (minimum of two years) to manage day-to-day operations, quality assurance, curriculum design, and midwifery student experience
The post holder should be able to draw on their own subject knowledge and will be committed to promoting evidence based best practice that underpins critical thinking, leadership, decision-making and problem-solving skills required to enable midwifery students to fulfil their role. By utilising expert knowledge and skills, the post holder will lead agreed modules, assess students and supervise projects.

Selection methods:
Shortlisted candidates will be asked to deliver a teaching session, followed by a formal panel interview. The teaching brief is as follows:
Teaching session:
Please facilitate a 15-minute interactive teaching session on a midwifery topic of your choice, suitable for Level 4 undergraduate Midwifery students.
For the purposes of this teaching session, you should assume the audience are Level 4 undergraduate students.
Please note, the teaching session will take place on campus on Day 1 of the selection process (scheduled for Monday 5th October 2026), with successful candidates at that stage progressing to the formal panel interview on Day 2 (scheduled for Monday 19th October 2026).
Please note that if not already an employee of the University of Worcester, the appointed candidate will be employed through our subsidiary company Uniworc Limited, a wholly owned subsidiary of University of Worcester. Appointees of Uniworc Limited will automatically be enrolled into the Aviva FlexHE defined contribution pension scheme (subject to earnings and other eligibility criteria).
