Job Summary
We are seeking a skilled and passionate Sushi Chef to join our culinary team. The ideal candidate will possess a strong understanding of traditional Japanese sushi preparation, ensuring the highest standards of quality, presentation, and hygiene. Duties
- Prepare a variety of sushi dishes including nigiri, sashimi, maki rolls, and other Japanese delicacies with precision and artistry.
- Maintain high standards of cleanliness and hygiene in all food preparation areas in accordance with health and safety regulations.
- Source fresh ingredients and ensure proper storage to preserve quality and freshness.
- Assist in menu development by suggesting new sushi recipes and presentation styles.
- Monitor inventory levels and communicate supply needs to management proactively.
- Ensure all dishes are prepared in a timely manner to meet service demands.
- Collaborate with kitchen staff to ensure smooth operation during busy periods.
- Uphold the restaurant’s commitment to customer satisfaction by delivering consistently high-quality dishes.
Preferred Skills
- Experience as a Sushi Chef or similar role within a professional kitchen environment.
- Extensive knowledge of traditional Japanese sushi techniques, ingredients, and presentation styles.
- Excellent knife skills with the ability to prepare fish, vegetables, and rice efficiently and accurately.
- Strong understanding of food safety standards and hygiene practices.
- Creativity in designing visually appealing sushi platters that enhance guest experience.
- Ability to work under pressure whilst maintaining attention to detail.
- Good organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
- A passion for Japanese cuisine and a desire to continually improve culinary skills through training or self-development.
