Support Your Local Community as a coffee shop Volunteer
As a Coffee Shop Volunteer, you’ll be part of a small, welcoming team of staff and volunteers who work together to create a friendly, relaxed experience for everyone who visits. Depending on your interests, you may help with tasks such as serving customers, preparing simple food and drinks, keeping the coffee shop clean and inviting, clearing tables, or supporting general housekeeping behind the scenes. Every contribution helps the coffee shop run smoothly and raises vital funds for Ashgate Hospice.
Time Commitment:
- Wednesdays and Fridays

What You’ll Be Doing
You’ll be able to get involved in the tasks that interest you most. There are lots of ways to help, and you may choose to support some or all of the activities below, depending on what you enjoy and feel comfortable with.

Front-of-house duties such as serving customers, taking payments, preparing coffees and other hot drinks, and taking orders to tables

Back-of-house tasks including preparing and cooking simple food, and helping with stock rotation

General assistant duties such as clearing tables, loading and unloading the dishwasher, and keeping the kitchen area safe and sanitary

Helping to keep the café clean, tidy and welcoming for customers
-
Following all food hygiene regulations and safe working practices
Who We’re Looking For
We’d love to hear from you if you are:

Someone with great customer service

Understands the importance of representing the hospice within the community

Can give a regular commitment and would let us know if they are unavailable

Will complete and attend our statutory training, within the first 2 months

Will abide by the policies and procedures of Ashgate Hospice

Ability to live the hospice values

Important Information
- Volunteers must be aged 16 or over

All volunteers are required to attend:

Voluntary Statutory Training (3 hours)

Ashgate Hospice Induction (3 hours)

Local role-specific training will be provided
