We are looking for a Sweeper Operative 3.5 to 7.5 tonne to join our Street Cleansing team. The role involves driving and operating compact sweepers and vehicles from 3.5 to 7.5 tonne, helping to maintain clean and well-presented city streets.
You will be responsible for carrying out street cleansing duties across various locations, operating mechanical sweepers, collecting and disposing of waste, and completing vehicle and equipment checks. The role will also include reporting defects and proactive works, completing required paperwork and supporting other operational duties when required. You may also be required to drive an RCV up to 7.5 tonne to provide holiday and sickness cover on a four days on, four days off shift basis.
About You
The successful candidate will have a full UK driving licence with a minimum of Category C1 and a valid Driver CPC card. You will need to be able to follow verbal and written instructions, work effectively as part of a team or independently, and carry out manual handling tasks associated with the role.
You should have a good understanding of health and safety, basic literacy and numeracy skills, good timekeeping and attention to detail, and be able to work flexibly to meet operational requirements.
Previous experience of working in a similar role or operating a mechanical sweeper would be an advantage, as would local geographical knowledge.

This role is for 37 hours per week, but to ensure flexibility and promote an inclusive workplace part time hours or a job share agreement will be considered.
