We are seeking to appoint a motivated and enthusiastic individual to lead digital knowledge and decision support delivery, strategic and operational planning and management to develop the Right Decision Service (RDS) platform. (Overview of RDS services)
The Senior Health Information Scientist will lead and manage a programme of digital development and quality assurance, knowledge mobilisation and implementation support to embed RDS decision support in frontline practice and policy. You will manage and develop a team of three health information scientists (1wte, 0.6 wte, 0.5 wte) to deliver and implement RDS tools for maximum impact across Scotland’s health and care. Activities will include engagement and outreach with a wide range of clinical, social care and policy stakeholders, managing a programme of digital delivery, evaluating and promoting the benefits of digital decision support, quality assurance including obtaining and maintaining UK CA marking status where required, designing and deploying knowledge mobilisation methods to facilitate adoption and spread of RDS services.
You will have sound knowledge and skills in facilitating digital delivery of healthcare evidence in a way that meets users’ needs and in facilitating use of evidence in practice. You will have strong skills in sourcing and summarising evidence and in stakeholder communication and engagement, including communication of complex information. You will demonstrate creativity and innovation in identifying new approaches to getting evidence into practice and will be an effective team worker with an ability to collaborate with other colleagues internally and externally.
You will hold a postgraduate Masters qualification or equivalent experience in a library, information or knowledge management-related discipline. You will demonstrate sound digital information skills and experience and have a track record in provision of health information and working with senior healthcare professionals.
Healthcare Improvement Scotland’s Evidence and Digital Directorate is a complex and wide-ranging directorate which develops and disseminates evidence-based advice for NHSScotland, such as clinical guidelines, health technology assessments and clinical standards, and also provides evidence development, research, health economics, knowledge and decision support for the other functions of the organisation and for external partners.
