E-Type UK is one of the UK's leading Jaguar E-Type specialists, with a reputation built on the restoration, servicing, upgrading and bespoke development of these iconic cars.
As the business continues to evolve, with an increasing focus on bespoke builds, specialist upgrades and higher-value projects, we are looking for an experienced Classic Car Technician to join our workshop team.
The Role
This is a varied, hands-on role for an experienced technician who enjoys mechanical work, fault finding and solving problems.
You will take ownership of day-to-day servicing, maintenance, diagnostics and repairs, managing jobs from initial assessment through to completion and road testing.
You'll need to be comfortable working independently and taking responsibility for your own jobs, delivering a high standard of work while helping our specialist build team remain focused on bespoke builds and larger, more complex projects.
While much of your work will be on Jaguar E-Types, you'll also have the opportunity to work on other interesting classic and performance cars and, where appropriate, contribute to our larger projects.
What You'll Be Doing
- Servicing and maintaining classic cars
- Diagnosing mechanical and electrical faults
- Carrying out mechanical repairs and component replacement
- Working on braking, suspension, steering, cooling, fuel and ignition systems
- Carrying out mechanical and performance upgrades
- Investigating faults and finding the right solution rather than simply replacing components
- Taking ownership of jobs from initial diagnosis through to completion
- Road testing vehicles and ensuring faults have been properly resolved
- Identifying and communicating any additional work required
- Accurately recording work undertaken, parts required and time spent
- Working efficiently while maintaining a consistently high standard
- Supporting larger bespoke and specialist projects when required
About You
We are looking for someone with:
- Professional experience as an automotive technician or mechanic
- Strong practical mechanical skills
- Good diagnostic and problem-solving ability
- The ability to work independently and take responsibility for a job
- A methodical and organised approach
- An understanding of the importance of working efficiently
- Pride in the quality of their work
- A full UK driving licence
Previous experience working with classic cars is desirable but not essential.
We would equally like to hear from experienced technicians currently working on modern vehicles who have strong mechanical and diagnostic skills and would like to move into the classic car sector.
Experience with Jaguar E-Types or other British classics would be an advantage, but ability, attitude and a genuine enthusiasm for the cars are more important to us than previous E-Type experience.
Why E-Type UK?
For the right person, this is an opportunity to move away from high-volume routine workshop work and build a career working with some genuinely special cars.
Our workshop combines traditional mechanical skills with modern engineering and development. Alongside maintaining and improving customer cars, we undertake significant upgrades and increasingly ambitious bespoke E-Type projects.
You'll join an experienced team with a shared focus on craftsmanship, engineering quality, efficiency and doing the job properly, with the opportunity to broaden your knowledge and become increasingly involved in specialist projects as your experience develops.
