Yorkshire Ghost Tours is expanding to Hebden Bridge! We are seeking a new actor/tour guide to add to the team. You will get the chance to create your own ghoulish character and really bring them to life on a haunted walking tour around Hebden Bridge. All tours are performed fully in character so acting experience is strongly advised. The tour lasts one hour and is a fully scripted piece, so ability to learn a one-hour script is non-negotiable. Responsibilities
- Perform scripted or improvised roles that align with the theme of the attraction, engaging visitors through lively storytelling and interaction.
- Lead guided tours around the town, providing historical or thematic information in an engaging and accessible manner.
- Interact with visitors of all ages, answering questions and ensuring they feel welcomed and entertained throughout their visit.
- Maintain a professional appearance and behaviour consistent with the character or theme of the attraction.
- Assist in organising special events or themed activities as required.
- Collaborate with team members to ensure smooth operations and high-quality visitor experiences.
- Adhere to safety protocols and organisational policies at all times.
- Run a risk assessment prior to tours
- Handle marketing materials eg. blackboard and fliers
- Maintain excellent communication at all times with management
- Occasionally run private tours for parties, corporations, etc.
Qualifications
- Previous experience in acting, performing arts, or guiding tours is advantageous but not essential; enthusiasm and a willingness to learn are key.
- Excellent verbal communication skills with the ability to captivate diverse audiences.
- Strong organisational skills and the ability to work independently or as part of a team.
- Friendly, approachable demeanour with a passion for storytelling and customer engagement.
- Flexibility to work weekends, holidays (Halloween!) or evenings if required.
- Basic knowledge of health and safety procedures relevant to public attractions is desirable but training will be provided. This position offers an engaging environment where creativity meets customer service, perfect for individuals who enjoy sharing stories and creating memorable experiences for visitors.
- Living close to or in Hebden Bridge is ideal
Pay: £30.00-£55.00 per hour
