Overview
We are seeking a dedicated Saw Shop Operator to join our manufacturing team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for operating band saws and iron workers within our workshop, ensuring precise cutting. This role offers an excellent opportunity for individuals with a background in mechanical work, warehouse operations, or fabrication to develop their skills in a dynamic environment. The position involves working with hand tools, power tools, and performing heavy lifting to support production goals efficiently and safely.
Responsibilities
- Operate band saws and iron workers to cut and shape mild steel according to specifications
- Assembling safety barriers, ensuring components are correctly fitted and secured
- Conduct routine maintenance and safety checks on equipment to ensure optimal performance
- Handle heavy lifting of materials
- Maintain a clean and organised workspace, adhering to health and safety standards
- Support workshop activities, including stock organisation and inventory management
- Collaborate with team members to meet production deadlines and quality standards
Skills
- Mechanical knowledge with the ability to operate various fabrication machinery safely
- Proficiency with hand tools, power tools, and assembly techniques
- Ability to perform heavy lifting safely for extended periods
- Strong organisational skills with attention to detail in precision tasks
- Good communication skills and the ability to work effectively within a team
- Prior experience in manufacturing or workshop environments is preferred but not mandatory
