About the Role
We have an excellent opportunity for the right candidate to join our growing team as a Trainee Ductwork Engineer.
This is an ideal opportunity for someone looking to start a career within the ductwork, ventilation and air conditioning industry. Previous ductwork experience is not essential, as training will be provided.
Working alongside experienced Ductwork Engineers and other members of our installation teams, you will gain practical, hands-on experience installing commercial ductwork and ventilation systems across a wide variety of projects.
For candidates who demonstrate the right attitude, reliability and aptitude for the role, there will be opportunities for further training and clear career progression within the company.
The role is mobile, with work carried out predominantly at our clients' premises throughout London and the surrounding areas.
Duties & Responsibilities
As your experience develops, your responsibilities will include:
- Assisting experienced engineers with the installation of ductwork and ventilation systems.
- Learning how to install various types and sizes of commercial ductwork.
- Assisting with measuring, marking out, positioning and assembling ductwork.
- Learning to read and understand technical drawings and installation layouts.
- Installing brackets, supports, grilles, diffusers and associated ventilation components.
- Assisting with the movement and positioning of materials and equipment.
- Using hand and power tools safely and correctly.
- Working from ladders, towers and access equipment where required.
- Working alongside Air Conditioning Engineers and other trades on site.
- Keeping work areas clean, organised and safe.
- Following company and site-specific health and safety procedures.
- Developing the practical skills required to progress towards becoming a competent Ductwork Engineer.
The Candidate
We are primarily looking for someone with the right attitude and willingness to learn.
The successful candidate should:
- Be practical and comfortable working with their hands.
- Have a genuine interest in learning a skilled trade.
- Be reliable, punctual and willing to work.
- Be comfortable working on construction and commercial sites.
- Be able to work effectively as part of a team.
- Be willing to start early in the mornings when required.
- Be physically capable of carrying out a practical and active role.
- Be willing to travel to different client sites.
- Have good communication skills.
- Take pride in the quality of their work.
- Be willing to learn and follow instructions from experienced engineers.
Previous construction, mechanical, ductwork or ventilation experience would be beneficial but is not essential.
Driving Licence
A full UK driving licence would be advantageous.
Candidates who are currently learning to drive or actively working towards obtaining their licence will also be considered.
Training & Career Progression
This position is intended to provide a genuine career path within the ductwork and ventilation industry.
The successful candidate will receive practical on-the-job training working alongside experienced engineers.
As your knowledge and ability develop, there will be opportunities to progress through the business:
Trainee Ductwork Engineer → Ductwork Improver → Ductwork Engineer
Additional industry training and qualifications may also be provided for employees who demonstrate the right aptitude and commitment.

Working Hours
The standard working week is based around 40 hours on site, with authorised overtime available and paid in addition to the basic salary.
Due to the nature of the industry, early morning starts will be required.

You do not need to already be a Ductwork Engineer.
