Job Overview
We are seeking a dedicated Kitchen Assistant to support our culinary team in delivering high-quality meals and maintaining a clean, organised kitchen environment. This role is ideal for individuals passionate about food, catering, and culinary arts, with a keen eye for food safety and excellent service standards. The Kitchen Assistant will play a vital part in meal preparation, food safety compliance, and assisting with daily kitchen operations to ensure smooth service delivery. Hours are around 33 hours per week with the opportunity to pick up extra when required.
Duties
- Assist with meal preparation and food assembly in accordance with recipes and standards
- Support chefs and kitchen staff in preparing ingredients and cooking dishes as required
- Maintain cleanliness of the kitchen area, including washing dishes, utensils, and work surfaces
- Ensure all food safety protocols are followed diligently to uphold hygiene standards
- Help with organising ingredients and supplies to ensure efficient workflow
- Serve meals to customers or staff in a courteous and professional manner
- Support catering events by setting up tables, serving food, and clearing away afterwards
- Assist with inventory checks and stock replenishment as needed
Requirements
- Previous experience in catering, restaurant work, or a professional kitchen environment is desirable
- Knowledge of food preparation techniques and basic cooking skills
- Understanding of food safety regulations and hygiene standards
- Experience in meal preparation, food presentation, or serving is advantageous
- Ability to work efficiently under pressure whilst maintaining attention to detail
- Good organisational skills and the ability to work as part of a team
- Flexibility to adapt to varying shift patterns and busy periods
- A positive attitude with a passion for delivering excellent customer service
