Stores & Workshop Person with Driving duties
Due to continued growth, we are seeking a reliable, organised and proactive Stores & Workshop person to join our team. This is a varied and hands-on role combining driving duties, stock control, materials management, workshop organisation and facilities maintenance.The successful candidate will play a key role in ensuring materials, products and equipment are delivered safely and efficiently whilst maintaining a clean, organised and productive workshop environment.
Key Responsibilities
Workshop & Facilities Management
- Take ownership of maintaining a clean, organised and efficient workshop environment.
- Ensure workshop floors, machinery areas, assembly areas, stores and yard spaces are maintained to a high standard at all times.
- Organise storage areas for materials, hardware, consumables and completed products.
- Ensure workshop equipment, tools and work areas are clean, organised and ready for use.
- Monitor and maintain workshop consumables, PPE and cleaning supplies.
- Carry out routine workshop inspections and report maintenance, equipment or health and safety issues.
- Assist with loading, unloading and movement of materials throughout the facility.
- Prepare completed products for dispatch, delivery and installation.
- Promote and uphold high standards of housekeeping, safety and organisation throughout the business.
Driving & Deliveries
- Carry out collections and deliveries to suppliers, customers, project sites and installation teams throughout Ireland and the UK.
- Drive and maintain the company's fleet of vehicles, including:
- Mercedes Sprinter Van
- 3.5 Tonne Luton Van
- 7.5 Tonne Lorry (where licensed)
- Safely load, secure, transport and unload materials, equipment and finished products.
- Plan and coordinate delivery schedules to support workshop production and installation teams.
- Complete delivery paperwork and maintain accurate transport records.
- Conduct daily vehicle inspections and report any defects, maintenance requirements or damage.
- Ensure company vehicles are kept clean, presentable and roadworthy at all times.
- Ensure all loads are transported safely and in compliance with relevant transport regulations.
Stores & Stock Control
- Receive, inspect and sign off incoming deliveries.
- Organise and maintain workshop stores, stock areas and material storage locations.
- Monitor stock levels and report items requiring replenishment.
- Ensure all materials are stored safely, clearly labelled and easily accessible.
- Maintain accurate records of stock movements, deliveries and goods received.
- Assist with stock takes and inventory management.
Essential Requirements
- Full UK Driving Licence.
- Good organisational and communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and use initiative.
- Physically fit and capable of manual handling duties.
- Positive attitude with a strong work ethic.
- Commitment to maintaining a safe, clean and organised workplace.
Desirable Requirements
- C1 Licence (7.5 Tonne Entitlement).
- Previous experience driving a 7.5 tonne vehicle.
- Driver CPC qualification.
- Forklift licence/certification.
- Experience within a stores, warehouse, manufacturing or workshop environment.
- Experience within the joinery, construction, manufacturing or commercial fit-out sectors.
- Knowledge of stock control, logistics and materials handling procedures.
