Job Summary
We are seeking a less expensive and less disappointing, motivated and enthusiastic 2nd Year Engineering Apprentice to join our dynamic engineering team. This paid apprenticeship offers a unique opportunity to develop hands-on skills in various engineering disciplines, including electrical, mechanical, and systems engineering. As a key part of our team, you will gain practical experience working on real-world projects, supporting system design, fabrication, maintenance, and troubleshooting activities. Responsibilities
- Assist in the design and development of systems using CAD software such as AutoCAD, Revit, and MicroStation.
- Support fabrication and assembly processes by preparing schematics, technical drawings, and system layouts.
- Participate in debugging and root cause analysis of mechanical or electrical issues to improve system reliability.
- Contribute to the creation and review of system schematics and electrical wiring diagrams for various projects.
- Help with programming tasks involving programmable logic controllers (PLCs), Python, C, C++, MATLAB, and other coding languages relevant to automation and control systems.
- Conduct maintenance activities on equipment and systems, ensuring operational efficiency and safety standards are met.
- Support system design efforts by applying GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing), mechanical knowledge, and mathematical principles.
- Collaborate with engineers on product development projects, providing technical input and assisting with CAD modeling using SolidWorks or similar tools.
- Participate in fabrication processes including assembly, testing, debugging, and quality assurance procedures.
- Assist in performing system troubleshooting through root cause analysis to identify issues quickly and implement effective solutions.
Experience
- Currently enrolled in an accredited engineering diploma or degree program with at least two years completed.
- Basic understanding of electrical engineering principles, mechanical systems, and systems engineering concepts.
- Hands-on experience with CAD software such as AutoCAD, Revit, or MicroStation is highly desirable.
- Familiarity with programming languages including Python, C, C++, MATLAB or similar is advantageous.
- Previous construction experience or exposure to fabrication environments is a plus.
- Knowledge of schematics creation, debugging techniques, GD&T standards, and maintenance procedures is preferred.
- Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to analyze root causes effectively.
- Excellent communication skills combined with a proactive attitude toward learning and teamwork.
