Company Overview
Wilsden Pharmacy is an independent community pharmacy serving Wilsden village, part of a small owner-led group with our branch in Harden. We are focused on developing our NHS and private clinical services, and on delivering personalised care, medicines management and advice on minor ailments in a supportive, collaborative team.
Overview
We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Pharmacy Technician to join our team for 20 hours per week. This is a services-focused role: you will spend a significant part of your week in patient-facing clinical work, help set up and deliver new NHS and private services, and support the smooth running of the dispensary alongside it. As the pharmacy develops, our services, systems and processes will change, and we are looking for someone who is comfortable working that way.
Duties
- Deliver NHS clinical services including Pharmacy First, New Medicine Service, blood pressure checks and hypertension case-finding, and seasonal vaccination support
- Support the set-up and delivery of new private services, from process design through to seeing patients
- Provide excellent patient care by answering questions and offering advice on medicines within your scope of practice, referring to the pharmacist where appropriate
- Prepare, assemble and dispense prescriptions accurately under the supervision of the responsible pharmacist, ensuring correct labelling and storage
- Implement new service specifications, SOPs and working processes as they are introduced
- Manage stock levels, including ordering, restocking and checking for expired or recalled medicines
- Support the pharmacy team with administrative tasks including data entry, record keeping, and NHS claims and submissions
- Maintain compliance with all legal, professional and safety requirements relating to the handling of medicines and patient confidentiality
- Work with GP practices, the ICB and other healthcare providers to support optimal patient outcomes
- Support and train dispensers and trainees
Qualifications
- Registered with the General Pharmaceutical Council as a Pharmacy Technician (essential), or completing registration imminently
- Experience working as a pharmacy technician in community pharmacy; hospital or primary care experience also welcome
- Working knowledge of pharmacy PMR systems, dispensing workflow and NHS claim processes
- Understanding of NHS service specifications and a willingness to learn new ones as they are introduced
- Comfortable adapting to new services, systems and ways of working as the pharmacy develops
- Strong commitment to patient care, with the communication skills to run a consultation confidently
- Able to work accurately and efficiently during busy periods without losing attention to detail
- Able to prioritise effectively and work well in a small team
