Due to continued growth, we are looking for an experienced Project Manager - Substations to join our team and support the successful delivery of works at Bramford Substation. This is an exciting opportunity to lead a complex and high-profile infrastructure project within a business that is at the forefront of the UK's electricity network investment programme.
As Project Manager, you will have overall accountability for the safe, sustainable and successful delivery of the project from inception through to commissioning and handover. You will lead a multi-disciplinary team, ensuring the project is delivered to programme, budget and quality requirements whilst maintaining exceptional health, safety and environmental standards.
You will provide leadership, direction and support to project teams, fostering a collaborative environment where everyone can thrive and achieve shared goals. You will also build and maintain strong relationships with clients, stakeholders and supply chain partners throughout the project lifecycle.
What you'll be doing
- Lead the planning, design, delivery, monitoring, commissioning and close-out of substation projects.
- Ensure projects are delivered safely, sustainably, on time and within budget.
- Manage and motivate project teams including engineers, site managers and function leads.
- Oversee project governance, reporting and stakeholder engagement.
- Drive a culture of Zero Harm and ensure full compliance with health, safety and environmental requirements.
- Lead risk, issue and opportunity management, maintaining ownership of project risk registers.
- Manage subcontractors and supply chain performance to achieve contractual objectives.
- Monitor project quality standards and lead continuous improvement initiatives.
- Establish and maintain robust project controls, resource planning and change management processes.
- Ensure effective commercial management, cost control and contract administration.
- Promote digital innovation and the use of digital tools to support project delivery
Who we're looking for
- Proven experience delivering major infrastructure, utilities, energy or substation projects.
- Demonstrable track record of successful project delivery.
- Strong understanding of project and commercial management principles.
- Experience managing multi-disciplinary teams and stakeholders.
- Excellent communication and leadership skills.
- Experience implementing and managing safe systems of work.
- Solution-focused approach with strong problem-solving abilities.
- Ability to inspire, motivate and develop high-performing teams.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office 365.
- Full UK Driving Licence.
- Membership of a professional body such as APM (or working towards membership).
- Formal Project Management qualification or equivalent experience.
- CSCS and SMSTS certification (or equivalent).
- Experience working within Electricity Transmission & Distribution environments, particularly National Grid or DNO projects
