Join Miller Knight
Miller Knight is a leading Principal Contractor specialising in fire remediation and refurbishment projects across the UK. As our business continues to grow, we're looking for a Compliance & Assurance Advisor to join our expanding SHEQ team.
This is an excellent opportunity for someone with a strong eye for detail, a quality-focused mindset, and the confidence to challenge poor standards when they see them.
Construction experience is not essential.
We're interested in speaking with candidates from a variety of backgrounds including engineering, manufacturing, aerospace, automotive, military, food production, quality assurance, auditing, or any environment where compliance, quality, and attention to detail are critical.
The Role
Reporting to the SHEQ Manager, you will provide independent assurance across our projects, helping to ensure that works are completed to the required standards, specifications, and approved installation details.
You'll travel to sites across the UK carrying out audits, quality inspections, and compliance reviews, helping project teams maintain high standards while identifying opportunities for improvement.
This role involves regular UK travel and occasional overnight stays.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct compliance and quality audits across live projects.
- Inspect works on site to ensure compliance with specifications, drawings, and approved details.
- Review project documentation and quality assurance records.
- Identify non-conformances, quality defects, and areas for improvement.
- Produce clear and accurate audit reports.
- Track corrective actions through to completion.
- Support project teams in understanding quality and compliance requirements.
- Assist with the development of procedures, guidance, and training materials.
- Promote a proactive "Right First Time" culture throughout the business.
What We're Looking For:
Essential
- Excellent attention to detail.
- Experience within a quality, assurance, compliance, auditing, inspection, or similar role.
- Ability to interpret technical documents, specifications, drawings, or procedures.
- Confidence to challenge non-compliant practices and raise concerns where necessary.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Good IT skills, including Microsoft Office.
- Full UK Driving Licence.
- Willingness to travel and stay away from home when required.
Desirable
- Internal Auditor qualification (ISO 9001, ISO 14001, or ISO 45001).
- Experience within construction, refurbishment, fire remediation, or a related industry.
Who Will Succeed in This Role?
You'll be someone who naturally notices things others miss.
You're organised, practical, and proactive. You care about standards and take pride in doing things properly. You're comfortable speaking with people at all levels and confident enough to challenge poor quality when required.
Most importantly, you're someone who wants to learn, improve, and make a genuine impact.
What We Offer
- £40,000 - £47,000 salary (dependent on experience).
- Company van and fuel card.
- Additional payments for overnight stays and working away.
- Full training on company systems and technical requirements.
- Ongoing professional development and CPD opportunities.
- Employee Assistance Programme.
- Career progression within a growing and ambitious business.
- Supportive and collaborative team environment.
If you're looking for a role where quality matters, your opinion is valued, and no two days are the same, we'd love to hear from you.
