Job Title: SEND Teaching Assistant

Start Date: ASAP
Contract: Long-term | Full-time (Monday–Friday, 8:30am–3:30pm)
We are recruiting a committed and compassionate SEND Teaching Assistant to join a specialist independent school in Croydon on a long-term basis from April. This is a full-time role, working Monday to Friday during school hours.
The school supports children aged 4–11 with severe and complex learning and communication needs, offering a structured, nurturing, and child-centred environment. As a SEND Teaching Assistant, you will work within a specialist setting, supporting pupils to engage with learning, develop communication skills, and build confidence and independence.
The Role:
- Providing 1:1 and small group support for pupils with complex SEND
- Supporting individualised learning programmes and sensory-based activities
- Assisting pupils with communication, emotional regulation, and social interaction
- Supporting with personal care when required
- Working closely with teachers, therapists, and wider support staff to meet pupil needs
The Ideal Candidate:
- Experience working with children with SEND is highly desirable
- A patient, caring, and resilient approach to supporting learning
- Confidence working with Early Years and primary-aged pupils
- Willingness to support with personal care tasks
- A strong commitment to safeguarding and child welfare
