As a Housekeeper, you’ll play a key role in ensuring Focus Birmingham’s facilities are maintained to the highest standards of cleanliness, hygiene, and safety. Working as part of a friendly team, you will help provide a clean, safe, and comfortable environment for our service users, visitors, and colleagues, while supporting the organisation’s commitment to quality, dignity, and wellbeing.
What you’ll be doing:
Supporting the Facilities Team

Maintain high standards of cleanliness across Focus Birmingham by carrying out cleaning duties in line with daily and deep cleaning schedules.

Ensure cleaning equipment, materials, and storage areas are used safely, maintained, and kept fully stocked.

Report maintenance issues, defects, or concerns promptly to the Facilities Manager.

Complete cleaning records accurately and undertake any other reasonable duties to support the Facilities team.
Delivering Person-Centred Care

Deliver high standards of cleanliness and hygiene while respecting the privacy, dignity, and individual needs of service users.

Follow cleaning schedules, organisational procedures, COSHH regulations, and safe working practices, including the correct use of PPE and colour coding systems.

Use cleaning products safely, maintain stock levels, and ensure company uniform is clean, presentable, and worn in line with organisational standards.
Delivering Safe and High-Quality Services

Comply with Health and Safety legislation, infection prevention procedures, COSHH regulations, and organisational policies to maintain a safe working environment.

Complete Health and Safety records, cleaning checks, and report incidents, hazards, accidents, or maintenance concerns promptly.

Participate in mandatory training and follow fire safety, manual handling, safeguarding, and other required organisational procedures. Supporting food Services
Supporting Food Services (Occasional Cover)
On occasion, you may be required to provide kitchen cover during periods of absence. Advance notice and full training will be provided.

Receive, store, and prepare food in line with food safety procedures and service users' dietary requirements.

Regenerate meals safely, maintain kitchen equipment, and complete all required food safety and traceability documentation.

Receive food deliveries in accordance with temperature control guidelines.
Person Specification
Essential
-
Good standard of education, including English and Mathematics, with effective written and verbal communication skills.

Experience of Health and Safety procedures, including COSHH, with the ability to work accurately and deliver a high-quality cleaning service.

Able to work proactively as part of a team, with basic IT skills, a flexible and customer-focused approach, and a willingness to undertake mandatory training and additional duties as required.

Satisfactory DBS check and the ability to provide two suitable references.
Desirable
-
Previous housekeeping or commercial cleaning experience.

Experience working within a care, healthcare, education, or charity environment.

Knowledge of infection prevention and control procedures.
- Experience completing cleaning records and compliance documentation.

Food hygiene awareness or experience working within a kitchen environment.
