About Align
Align Agency was born out of a need for better fitted, more precise and dedicated marketing services invested in the success of female artists in the UK. We specialise in managing end-to-end marketing and social campaigns for female artists and their labels, as well as providing bespoke 1:1 artist consultancy sessions to help female artists level up on all things music marketing.
Our mission is to champion female artists and help amplify their voice, music, message and brand on a global scale. The team at Align Agency has worked with talented artists such as Charli XCX, Leona Lewis, Rina Sawayama, Dove Cameron, Naika, Sophie Castillo and Carlita.
The Role
We're looking for a freelance Social Media Manager to take ownership of social marketing strategy and management across our roster of female artists and their labels. This is a hands-on, social-first role for someone who lives and breathes music culture, artist marketing and social media. You'd be shaping the narrative around releases, building content calendars across Instagram, TikTok and YouTube, growing real communities, and leading the strategy that makes each channel work hard.
You'll need a real understanding of music culture and proven experience working in social media marketing and management within the UK music industry.
This is an ongoing freelance retainer with consistent monthly work, suited to someone who wants a reliable anchor client alongside their own freelance projects or part-time work.
What You'll Do
- Lead on weekly social media and marketing calls with the artist, management and wider team, managing the agenda across strategy, ideas, planning and execution.
- Own and develop social media strategy across client channels (Instagram, TikTok, YouTube, and other emerging platforms).
- Plan, schedule and manage content calendars aligned to release schedules, campaigns and key moments.
- Create and direct content - concepts, copy, short-form video and carousels - that captures each artist's tone and reaches the right audience.
- Deliver a stream of new and creative content and social ideas for the artist to be filmed and/or edited in line with artist branding as well as wider marketing and campaign goals.
- Grow engaged, authentic communities and manage day-to-day community interaction.
- Translate marketing goals into channel-specific plans for releases, tours and brand moments.
- Track performance, producing detailed statistics and insight reports on what's working, and continuously sharpen the approach.
- Liaise with the wider artist team and partners such as management, artist, PR, label, managing social strategy, requests and communications across the whole team and campaign.
- Stay ahead of platform trends, formats and culture within music and use them to keep clients and strategy relevant and ahead of the curve.
What We're Looking For
- Proven experience working in the UK music industry - with labels, artists, management, social media or a music-focused agency. This is essential.
- Strong track record running social media strategy and content for brands or artists, with a deep current understanding of social platforms and how music audiences behave on them.
- A confident, articulate and persuasive speaker, who can lead client calls with authority and be trusted as the social and marketing expert in the room.
- Confident enough to disagree and state their point of view in a firm and polite way, backing it with sound reasoning.
- Experienced and strong communicator who can translate complex ideas, situations and arguments to multiple parties and tailor communications to each one to produce outcomes that are in alignment with campaign objectives.
- Undeniable creativity, the ability to come up with creative, strategic and relevant ideas for optimising the artists' social performance, using great points of reference and inspiration from other artists, brands and people of influence.
- Analytical and good with numbers - ability to pull deep insights from data and statistics of social platform performance and recommend and optimise strategy and execution based on learnings.
- Extremely high attention to detail and someone with genuine care for the quality of their work.
- Self-directed and reliable, comfortable owning channels and managing your own workflow as a freelancer.
- Highly proactive, someone who anticipates needs, asks the right questions and takes initiative without waiting to be told.
- Excellent understanding of how to use social media content creation tools - such as CapCut and Canva, and proven creative editing skills on both.
- Creative hook and caption-writer, you not only understand the importance of a great hook and on-screen caption, you also know exactly who your audience is and what is trending that they would recognise and connect to.
- Organised, deadline-driven, and able to juggle multiple clients and release cycles at once.
