About Gigacycle
Gigacycle is an established IT asset disposal, data destruction and computer recycling company. We help organisations securely and responsibly dispose of redundant IT equipment while maximising reuse and value recovery.
Equipment suitable for reuse is inspected, securely processed, tested, graded and remarketed. We are now looking for an experienced eBay product lister with good technical knowledge of computers and electronic equipment to join our Manchester operation.
The role
This is a practical role combining IT equipment testing with professional eBay product listing.
You will assess used IT equipment, confirm its specifications and condition, research its market value, take clear photographs and create accurate, sales-focused eBay listings. You will be responsible for ensuring that buyers receive an honest and complete description of every product.
The ideal candidate will already have experience creating and managing eBay listings and be comfortable identifying and testing computers, components and other electronic equipment.
Key responsibilities
- Inspect, identify and test used IT and electronic equipment.
- Confirm equipment specifications, functionality and cosmetic condition.
- Grade products accurately according to company standards.
- Identify faults, missing components and signs of damage.
- Determine whether equipment should be sold as working, refurbished, incomplete or for spares and repairs.
- Research products using manufacturer information and comparable sold eBay listings.
- Recommend commercially appropriate selling prices.
- Take clear, consistent product photographs.
- Create accurate and engaging listings using eBay Seller Hub.
- Write effective, keyword-focused titles and detailed product descriptions.
- Select the correct eBay categories, item specifics and condition classifications.
- Clearly document test results, faults, damage and included accessories.
- Allocate and record SKUs, serial numbers and storage locations.
- Maintain accurate inventory and listing records.
- Monitor active listings and update prices or content when required.
- Answer technical product questions from customers.
- Help investigate returns and identify recurring listing or testing issues.
- Work efficiently towards agreed testing and listing targets.
- Keep the testing and photography areas clean, secure and organised.
- Follow Gigacycle’s data-security, health-and-safety and quality procedures.
Essential experience and skills
- Previous commercial experience creating and managing eBay product listings.
- Confident using eBay Seller Hub.
- Experience researching products and assessing current market prices.
- Ability to write clear, accurate and professional product descriptions.
- Good product-photography skills.
- Good knowledge of computers, IT hardware or consumer electronics.
- Ability to identify specifications, components and common hardware faults.
- Strong written English, numeracy and computer skills.
- Excellent attention to detail.
- An honest and consistent approach to condition grading.
- Good organisational and time-management skills.
- Ability to work independently and meet productivity targets.
- Comfortable working with used equipment in a warehouse or processing environment.
Desirable experience
- Previous employment with an IT reseller, refurbishment company, ITAD provider or electronics retailer.
- Experience listing refurbished computers or electronics on eBay.
- Knowledge of desktops, laptops, monitors, servers, networking equipment and computer components.
- Experience testing hardware, installing operating systems or running diagnostic software.
- Familiarity with eBay business policies, promoted listings and performance standards.
- Experience with stock-control or inventory-management systems.
- Basic photo-editing skills.
- An understanding of secure data handling and data-bearing equipment.
- Experience diagnosing or completing minor hardware repairs.
What we are looking for
We are looking for someone who combines technical curiosity with strong commercial judgement. You should be able to examine an unfamiliar item, identify exactly what it is, test it appropriately and turn that information into an accurate listing that gives buyers confidence.
You will be methodical, productive and comfortable handling a varied inventory. Accuracy is particularly important: incorrect specifications, incomplete testing or unclear descriptions can lead to customer dissatisfaction and avoidable returns.
What we offer
- Salary of £27,000–£30,000, depending on relevant experience.
- Full-time, permanent employment.
- Monday-to-Friday working.
- Workplace pension.
- On-site training on Gigacycle’s testing, grading and security procedures.
- The opportunity to develop your knowledge of IT refurbishment, remarketing and secure IT asset disposal.
- A practical and varied role within a growing circular-economy business.
- On-site parking, if applicable.
Security and pre-employment checks
Gigacycle operates within the secure IT asset-disposal industry. The successful candidate will be expected to follow strict information-security and asset-handling procedures.
Employment may be subject to identity, employment-history, reference and criminal-record checks appropriate to the role. Applicants must have the right to work in the UK.
