Are you a compassionate and dedicated individual looking to make a real impact in people's lives? Leeds Jewish Welfare Board (LJWB) is seeking an enthusiastic Support Worker to join our friendly and dynamic team.
For over 145 years, LJWB has been a cornerstone of support for the Jewish and North Leeds communities. As one of North Leeds’ most established social care charities, we provide vital services to over 1,000 people every month. Our three CQC "Good" rated Kosher residential homes offer exceptional care to individuals with learning disabilities, helping them lead independent and fulfilling lives.
About the Role
As a Support Worker, you will play a key role in ensuring our residents live active, independent, and fulfilling lives. You will be part of a team that creates a safe, engaging, and supportive environment. No two days are the same, as our homes are always buzzing with activities and outings!
- Work Pattern: 5 out of 7 days per week, including weekends and bank holidays
- Sleep-In Duties: May be required (additional allowance paid)
- Driving Requirement: For transporting residents to activities and appointments
Key Responsibilities
- Provide person-centred care, including personal care and support with daily activities
- Assist with cooking, household tasks, and maintaining a comfortable living environment
- Drive/accompany residents to appointments, social outings, and fun activities
- Ensure residents are safe, engaged, and supported in their personal development
What We Are Looking For
To be successful in this role, you will need:
- The right to work in the UK without requiring sponsorship
- A valid UK driving licence (Manual) and confidence in driving residents to activities
- Great written and verbal communication skills
- Flexibility to work weekends, bank holidays, and attend training
- NVQ Level 2 / Diploma in Health & Social Care (or willingness to complete the Care Certificate during induction)
- Previous experience in learning disability support or care work
