Summary
The Deputy Head Chef plays a vital role in supporting the Head Chef in leading the kitchen team, ensuring the highest standards of food preparation, presentation, and service. This position requires excellent culinary skills, strong leadership abilities, and a passion for maintaining a positive, productive kitchen environment. The Deputy Head Chef will step into the Head Chef’s role in their absence, ensuring consistency in quality and service at all times.

- Assist the Head Chef in planning, developing, and executing seasonal menus and daily specials.
- Oversee day-to-day kitchen operations, ensuring smooth service during busy periods.
- Maintain high culinary standards for food preparation, presentation, and taste.
- Supervise and train kitchen staff, fostering a collaborative and professional work environment.
- Ensure compliance with food safety, hygiene, and health regulations.
- Manage stock control, ordering, and supplier relationships to minimize waste and control costs.
- Monitor portion control, reducing waste while maintaining quality and consistency.
- Support in scheduling and coordinating kitchen staff to ensure adequate coverage.
- Step in as acting Head Chef when required.
Requirements
· Proven experience as a Sous Chef, Deputy Head Chef, or similar leadership role in a professional kitchen.
· Strong culinary expertise with knowledge of a variety of cooking techniques and cuisines.
· Excellent organizational and time management skills.
· Ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
· Strong leadership and interpersonal skills.
· In-depth knowledge of food safety and kitchen hygiene regulations.
· Relevant culinary qualifications or equivalent experience.
