Join a Leading Waste Tanker Operator Serving the Food & Drink Industry
We are looking for an experienced and organised HGV Transport Planner to join our growing operations team. Working within a busy waste tanker business, you'll play a key role in planning and coordinating our fleet, ensuring customers across the food and drink manufacturing sector receive a first-class service 24 hours a day.
This is a varied and fast-paced role where no two days are the same. You'll be responsible for maximising vehicle utilisation, responding to customer requirements, supporting our drivers, and managing out-of-hours emergency calls during your working shift pattern.
The Role
As our Transport Planner, you will:
- Plan and schedule a fleet of HGV vacuum tankers and drivers.
- Ensure work is completed safely, efficiently and in compliance with driver hours and Working Time Regulations.
- Coordinate emergency call-outs and reactive work.
- Communicate with customers, drivers and operational staff throughout the day.
- Monitor vehicle movements and adjust schedules as priorities change.
- Ensure all transport activities comply with DVSA and Operator Licence requirements.
- Produce and maintain accurate transport records.
- Manage overnight emergency calls during your four-day working rotation, arranging drivers and vehicles where required.
- Deliver excellent customer service while working under pressure.
What We're Looking For
Essential:
- Previous transport planning or logistics experience.
- Good understanding of HGV driver hours and Working Time Directive.
- Excellent communication and organisational skills.
- Ability to remain calm and make sound decisions under pressure.
- Strong IT skills with experience using transport management systems.
- Flexible approach with excellent problem-solving ability.
- Full UK driving licence.
Desirable:
- Experience within tanker operations, waste management, industrial services or drainage.
- Knowledge of hazardous or non-hazardous liquid waste transport.
- CPC qualification (advantageous but not essential).
