About the Business
Kernow Mortgages is a growing, client-focused mortgage brokerage supporting individuals and property investors across the UK. Based at our Kernow Mortgages office, this role sits within Orton Financial Ltd, the group behind Kernow Mortgages and our specialist expat mortgage service, and will work across the wider business alongside our founder, Luther Yeates. We pride ourselves on delivering a high standard of service, maintaining strong relationships with both clients and lending partners, and operating with efficiency and professionalism at all times
The Role
We are looking for an organised and proactive Executive Assistant to provide direct support to Luther Yeates.
This role is central to ensuring that daily activity, client cases, and communications are managed effectively. You will take responsibility for coordinating workflows, keeping cases moving forward, and handling a range of business support tasks to enable the smooth running of operations.
This is a varied role suited to someone who is confident taking ownership, managing competing priorities, and working closely with a senior individual in a fast-moving environment.
Core Responsibilities
Case & Workflow Coordination
- Monitor and manage the progress of client cases, ensuring all stages are moving forward
- Identify outstanding items and follow up with clients, lenders, and third parties
- Help maintain a clear and organised pipeline of active work
Executive Support
- Manage day-to-day scheduling, including appointments and workload planning
- Ensure time is allocated effectively across business priorities
- Prepare and organise information ahead of meetings or client interactions
Communication & Relationship Management
- Act as a key contact point for client and professional communications
- Respond to queries in a timely and professional manner
- Build and maintain strong working relationships with external partners
Business & Administrative Support
- Produce and maintain accurate documentation and records
- Support internal systems and ensure information is up to date
- Assist with general business operations to maintain efficiency across the office
Process & Organisation
- Contribute to improving internal processes and ways of working
- Help ensure consistency in how tasks, records, and communications are managed
- Maintain high standards of organisation across all responsibilities
Skills & Experience
Essential
- Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities
- High level of attention to detail and accuracy
- Confident communication skills, both written and verbal
- Ability to work independently and take initiative
- Competent with standard office systems and technology
Desirable
- Experience in a support role within a professional or regulated environment
- Previous experience assisting a senior individual or managing workload coordination
- Exposure to financial services or client-based work

Working Hours
- This role is available at either 20 or 32 hours per week
- Core hours are typically : 9:00am – 2:00pm, Monday to Friday — for the 20-hour role, this forms the working pattern; for the 32-hour role, additional hours are built around this core
- Start times are flexible and negotiable — for candidates who prefer an earlier start, this could begin as early as 7:00am

- £14–£18/hour DOE, plus commission on banked case fees — recent quarterly commission has ranged from roughly £250–£470 per assistant
Pay: £14.00-£16.00 per hour
